'Museum Mural' in Assen, the Netherlands
Size approx. 10 x 11 meters
July 2024
What a pleasure it was, to paint for the Museum Murals project - representing Drents Museum Assen.
I chose 3 inspirations from their beautiful collection, to create this mural in Assen Oost. The weather was a big challenge, so much
rain in July but I worked very hard to finish it on time, and here you can see the end result!
My inspirations were the work of Johanna van Eijbergen, who made gorgeous compositions of flora and fauna in her metal art pieces. The 'Peasant burning weeds' by Van Gogh inspired me to paint these cute flowers (lesser bindweed) - actually they are very unwanted due to their invasive way of growing and choking other plants.
Last but not least, the pattern I painted on the left trout, is the pattern of a farmer's horn found in 1715.
